Club Executives (2015 – 2016)

RobertRobert Weaver, President

Robert has been in Toastmasters 7 years, his goal was to overcome fear and inhibition so he would be able to address an audience. He succeeded in becoming a more confident speaker by completing 3 Competent Communicator manuals. He also had the opportunity to develop leadership skills that he had not expected, by being President twice and now in a second term as Treasurer at his home club, Evening Edition Toastmasters.

CHRISTINE 030Christine Steward, VP of Education

Christine joined toastmasters 3 years ago and since then has welcomed both the challenge and opportunity of Toastmasters as she continues to address her fear of public speaking.  Stepping into the role of VP of Education in her second year and becoming Area 63 Governor in her third year provided an avenue for tremendous growth.  If you are looking for an organization to challenge you to stretch your boundaries, Toastmasters is it, and if you are looking to have fun while challenging yourself then Finding Vino is the place to be, we look forward to having you visit our club.

Susan YoungSusan Young, VP of Membership

Susan has been a toastmaster for 11 years. She initially joined Toastmasters to improve her speaking and leadership skill and to do presentations that people would remember. Since then she’s attained her ACB and CL and is currently working on her ACS. She is also a mentor to various club members taking on the task of helping beginners gain confidence quickly. The one thing she tells aspiring toastmasters is to follow the Toastmaster’s formula because it’s been successful for the past 91 years.

Riz ThumbRiz Aseem, VP of Public Relations

Riz Aseem joined toastmasters in March 2015 and quickly became a force to be reckoned with. He ploughed through his first Competent Communicator manual in 3 weeks, to be the only contestant to finish the “CC In A Month Challenge” in May 2015. His enthusiasm and drive got him quickly elected to the executive of Finding Vino Toastmasters as well as Evening Edition Toastmasters. In his spare time he loves to read, play guitar and spend time with his family.

EricaErika Johanson, Secretary

Erika joined Toastmasters in the fall of 2013. Although comfortable speaking in front of large audiences as a part of her work as a Business Analyst in IT, she was not comfortable speaking in social situations and had a soft speaking voice. This quickly changed as her involvement with Toastmasters increased (she was VP of ED and Secretary of Toastmasters by the Sea). However, she left Toastmasters for a year and found herself back at square one. Joining Finding Vino, she is finding her voice again in a safe, friendly, encouraging environment.

Gord Monro, Treasurer

Gord has been a toastmaster for 20 years. He has earned his DTM, and has served the District as an Area Governor and Division Governor and was Lieutenant Governor of Marketing the year that B.C.’s District 21 placed third in the world! Gord has served in many club executive positions, and enjoys being club president of Finding Vino. He has appreciated fine wines for many years, and is happy to share that enthusiasm with other members of the club. Gord has enjoyed wine tasting around the world and across Canada. In his professional capacity, Gord is a mechanical engineer, graduating from the University of Manitoba.

Stephan FournierStephane Fournier, Sergeant at Arms

Stephane has been a toastmaster for the last year and a half. He joined to develop better speaking skills and get over his fear of speaking to large audiences. He joined Finding Vino Toastmasters specifically because it’s an extraordinary club and touches on two of his favorite things – Public Speaking and Wine.
